Spring is here and it is a great time for my skin to dry out and go flaky. Australian weather is so unpredictable, rainy one day and then blistering hot the other. I picked up this body cream because it was on sale and was curious to see if it can help my dry skin.
I used this body cream after showering when my skin is red and bumpy from the hot water. My first impression was that is glides on so smoothly and absorbs quite quickly. It is very strongly fragrance but was okay for a body cream. This body cream makes my skin soft and smooth the next day.

Highlight ingredient: Jojoba & Vitamin E!
Now we all know that Jojoba and Vitamin E contains heaps of skin benefits. So what are they?
Simmondsia Chinensis Oil aka Jojoba (pronounced as huh·how·buh) is a lipid/wax that is similar to human sebum. It can help rebalance sebum, hydrate and forms a protective layer on the skin.
Tocopheryl Acetate aka Vitamin E is a stable antioxidant that helps protect the skin. It fights free radicals that can lead to skin ageing. If you want a face cream with Vitamin E with additional benefits, check out Palmers Cocoa Butter Night Cream!
Additional ingredient benefits in this body cream?
This formula has quite a few number of occlusive moisturisers that contribute to the smooth skin feel. Also helps create a physical barrier on the skin to prevent water loss.
- Paraffinum Liquidum
- Lanolin Alcohol
- Dimethicone
So you’re probably wondering why there is Alcohol Denat.? You guessed it, it’s for the quick drying and fast absorption. As you already know alcohol (ethanol) tends to dry out the skin. Because of this, many consumers look for alcohol free products. This is different to Lanolin Alcohol and Myristyl Alcohol. These are fatty alcohols that are good for the skin, don’t confuse them.
Fortunately this product does not dry out my skin. And its mainly because of the occulsive moisturisers that help prevent water loss. It balances the drying effect of alcohol which is good for my skin. But if you have sensitive or extremely dry skin then you should avoid products with ethanol.
The Verdict?
This formula is not bad, the highlight ingredients (jojoba & vitamin E) is definitely worth it. It does its job and smells nice too. Though in the long run, I’d prefer to use alcohol free moisturisers since my skin can be really temperamental in winter.
